JSW The first fully-electric luxury MPV in the nation, the MG M9, has been formally introduced by MG Motor India. At a competitive price of ₹69.90 lakh (ex-showroom), MG’s new MG Select premium dealership network is the only way to purchase this flagship vehicle. With a token payment of ₹1 lakh, reservations have already started, and client deliveries are anticipated to begin on August 10, 2025.
Positioning and Design
The M9 has a strong road presence because to its robust, squared-off dimensions. Style and functionality are enhanced by the elegant exterior’s split LED DRLs, angular headlights, chrome accents, and 19-inch ContiSeal self-sealing tires. A linked LED tail lamp bar highlights the back, enhancing the MPV’s premium appearance.
Three rows of seats are covered by luxurious interior finishes in cognac brown leather and suede. A smart armrest touchscreen controls the 16-way adjustable “Presidential Seats” in the second row, which have eight massage settings, heating, and ventilation.
Extraordinary Comfort and Room
With two sunroofs (single-pane front and panoramic rear), 64-color ambient lighting, and a top-tier 13-speaker sound system, the M9 guarantees first-class comfort. Without sacrificing functionality, the boot has a capacity of 945 L, can grow to 1,720 L when the third row is folded, and even has a 55 L frunk in the front.
Range & Powertrain
The M9’s front-mounted electric motor, which generates about 245 PS and 350 Nm of torque, is powered by a 90 kWh NMC battery. On a full charge, MG claims a certified range of 548 km (MIDC/WLTP). A 160 kW DC fast charger (0–100% in ~90 minutes) and an 11 kW AC wallbox (0–100% in ~10 hours) are supplied for charging options, in addition to the usual 3.3 kW portable unit.
Tech & Safety
With seven airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, tire-pressure monitoring, and front and rear disc brakes, the M9 is built on a strong safety basis. Both Euro NCAP and ANCAP have awarded it a 5-star safety rating, and it incorporates Level 2 ADAS features like adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance. Additional technological improvements include a 12.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver display, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
Position in the Market and Competitive Advantage
Situated between the Toyota Vellfire (₹1.2–1.3 cr) and Kia Carnival (₹63.9 cr), the M9 makes a claim as an upscale EV substitute for discriminating consumers. It is a unique offering that is now unrivaled in the Indian premium MPV market since it combines electric efficiency with upscale comfort.
The Experience of MG Select
The M9 is offered for sale in 13–14 large cities through special showrooms and customized client journeys under the premium MG Select sub-brand. In keeping with the vehicle’s premium stance, this new retail model seeks to improve the ownership and buying experiences.
With its ₹69.90 launch price, the MG M9 EV marks a turning point for luxury electric vehicles in India. It breaks into the luxury market typically occupied by combustion-powered titans with its opulent interiors, cutting-edge safety and technology, strong range, and quick charging. The M9 is an attractive package for wealthy families or tech-savvy workers looking for an EV with spaciousness and comfort comparable to a limousine.
Orders are being accepted now, and delivery will start on August 10, 2025. Few competitors can match the MG M9’s pricing and level of convenience, which epitomizes “electric luxury.”
